THE National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has secured an approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for its capital projects this year.
In a decision, the ERC approved an outlay of P14.3 billion for NGCP’s 2012 capital expenditures.
The amount will be used by the latter to expand the country’s transmission facilities, which bring power from generating plants to distribution utilities who then deliver the electricity down to consumers.
Last year, the ERC approved NGCP’s capital expenditures worth P15.3 billion.
Nanette Bugnosenm NGCP chief financial officer, said that among the projects completed last year are three new substations, 106 maintenance projects and the installation of 54 towers and 2,044 steel poles across the country.
NGCP was also able to complete the construction and upgrading of security systems and equipment, as well as the completion of 33 standardization manuals, 17 grid impact studies and 15 feasibility studies.
NGCP is the consortium that bagged the 25-year concession to operate and manage the power grid from TransCo in 2009. The company is composed of local investors led by Henry Sy Jr. and its technical partner State Grid of China Corp.
