Ten companies have expressed interest to join the September 24 bidding for the contract to manage the output of the Mt. Apo 1 and 2 geothermal power plants.
The auction is the government’s first for the so-called independent power producer administrator contract in Mindanao.
“There are 10 interested bidders who submitted their letter of interest before the deadline set last May 30, 2014. Out of the 10 interested bidders, two are foreign-owned entities and eight are Filipino-owned,” PSALM president and chief executive Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. told reporters.
PSALM did not name the companies, although Energy Development Corp. and Aboitiz Power Corp. earlier expressed interest to participate in the bidding.
“The Mt. Apo IPPA will manage government’s contracted energies in the Mt. Apo 1 and 2 plants, which are 390 gigawatt-hours and 398 GWh per year, respectively,” Ledesma said earlier.
PSALM will hold a pre-bid conference for prospective bidders on June 26 at 2 p.m.
The Mt. Apo 1 and Mt. Apo 2 geothermal power plants in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato have a rated capacity of 54.24 megawatt each. source
