German firm eyes hydro plant in Mambukal

Sunstar Bacolod
A GERMAN company is eyeing to construct a three-megawatt mini-hydro power plant in Mambukal Resort, Murcia.
Hannes Mueller, director of Hydrotech Renewable, presented Tuesday to Governor Alfredo MaraƱon Jr. their plans to tap the water from Mambukal Resort for their mini-hydro power plant.
He said they are presently conducting a four to six weeks data analysis of the characteristics of the water at Mambukal Resort.
Mueller assured that they will secure all the necessary permits for such power plant and that they will present their project proposal to the Provincial Board soon for approval of the project.
He added they are very much aware of the Mambukal residents’ sensitivity about environmental concerns.
On the other hand, the governor said he welcomes all independent power producers, which are eyeing Negros for their power plants.
He said the investors are already convinced of the power potential of the province and that the Provincial Government is just waiting for serious investors, which could deliver the power projects for the province. (TED)
