THE National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Tuesday that it has restored electricity in two of its lines affected by Typhoon Ramon in Mindanao.

In a statement, the NGCP said it has restored early Tuesday afternoon the 69-kilovolt (kV) Bislig-Cateel-Baganga transmission line, which tripped early Tuesday morning.

It added that they have also restored electricity at the 69-kV Nuling-Cotabato transmission line hours after it tripped on Monday night.

The Bislig-Cateel-Baganga and Nuling-Cotabato lines, according to the NGCP, transmit electricity to the customers of Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative and Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative, and Maguindanao Electric Cooperatives and Cotabato Light and Power Co., respectively.

The NGCP noted that power interruptions may be caused either by damage in its transmission facilities or the distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives.

It said that it is doing its best to restore the two remaining lines at the soonest possible tim.

It added that it has activated its command centers in all areas within the storm’s path, including the overall command center (OCmC) located at its head office in Diliman, Quezon City.

The NGCP said the OCmC ensures that all necessary preparations and precautions are implemented to minimize the impact of the said storm on NGCP operation and facilities.

The NGCP said it is further implementing various contingency measures, which will ensure the availability of telecommunication facilities, equipment, tools, and vehicles at all times while the typhoon is within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The NGCP said the availability of materials and supplies necessary for the repair of possible damage to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, is currently being coordinated to facilitate the immediate restoration of damaged facilities in affected areas.
