The Energy Regulatory Commission has awarded Certificates of Compliance to Monark, authorizing it to operate three diesel generators in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
“The ERC’s grant of COCs to Monark Equipment Corp. ensures the availability and sustainability of electric power service by Monark and National Power Corp. through adherence to financial, technical, and environmental quality standards,”  ERC Chairwoman Zenaida Cruz-Ducut said in a statement.
The commission said the power plants are leased to NPC-Small Power Utilities Group with the Basilan facility in Isabela rated for 3 megawatts capacity, Bus-Bus, Jolo in Sulu at 4.5 MW and Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, with 1.5 MW.
Monark operates the three generators as SPUG base plants on fuel supplied by NPC  to provide average requirements of Basilan Electric Cooperative Inc., Sulu Electric Cooperative Inc., and Tawi-Tawi Electric Cooperative Inc.   source
