No power in Baguio, Benguet for two days

Baguio City — The city and most of the province of Benguet suffered through an 11-hour power interruption on Wednesday and, again on Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Benguet Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BENECO), the sole electric distributor for Baguio and Benguet, which made the announcement in behalf of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the power outage is part of an annual preventive maintenance and testing of breakers and feeders of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

Yesterday, the areas affected were the whole of the towns of Atok, Tublay, Kapangan, Kibungan, Bokod, Kabayan, Bakun, Buguias and Mankayan in Benguet including half of this city.

Beneco said another power interruption is scheduled tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the towns of Itogon in Benguet, the other half of the city.

Those areas in Baguio affected by the Wednesday power interruption will again experience power outage from 7 a.m. to 12 noon of Friday, cutting power in the whole of Baguio in the morning.

The NGCP in a statement said they will exert all efforts to restore power service earlier or as scheduled.
