Police investigating the alleged suicide of Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Director Francisco Villa Jr., inside his house in ParaƱaque City, last Wednesday have secured a suicide note which details why he put a gun to his head.

Senior Superintendent Jose Carumba, city police chief, said Atty. Villa, 54, single, shot himself in the head with his Smith and Wesson .38-caliber revolver past 6 p.m. inside his house at No. 8 Florida St., Merville Park Subdivision, ParaƱaque.

It was househelper, Marlyn Magdasoc, who was then in the kitchen, who heard the gunshot inside Villa’s room. Upon rushing to the room, Magdasoc found Villa bloodied on his bed, prompting her to immediately call the family driver, Edgar De Guzman.

It was De Guzman who informed the fatality’s sister, Rosario Sofia Villa, about the incident so that police could be called to investigate.

Carumba confirmed that Villa left a suicide note, which contained the reasons for his action. However, he declined from confirming whether or not the suicide note Villa had problems at work in the ERC, which is under the Department of Energy (DOE).

Carumba said the suicide note and its contents are still being verified as part of the investigation. (With a report from Jean Fernando)
