THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has partnered with the Ateneo Law School to complement each other’s capabilities and resources in jointly developing, promoting, implementing and sustaining academic activities relating to the country’s power industry.
In a statement on Thursday, ERC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Agnes T. Devanadera described as a “new milestone” the regulator’s partnership with the Fr. Joaquin G. Bernas, S.J. Institute for Continuing Legal Education — Ateneo Law School in Makati City.
“As the sole regulator of the electric power industry, the ERC needs to keep itself abreast with the latest technologies and undertakes initiatives to enhance competencies of its staff and increase the knowledge base of all industry stakeholders,” she said.
The opening of the Bernas Institute and the launching of the ERC Academy were formalized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sept. 12. The MoU will serve as the foundation for the two parties to enter into specific project agreements.
The ERC and the Bernas Institute agreed to cooperate in pursuing various “necessary and appropriate” energy-related study sessions such as, but not limited to joint research and development projects; joint symposia, trainings, seminars, workshops and conferences; and joint publications as well as exchange of data and information.
