SN Aboitiz Power won Safety Milestone awards from the Department of Labor and Employment’s Bureau of Working Conditions for achieving record man-hours without a lost-time incident.
In December 2011, the Magat Plant was cited for performance covering 303,680 man-hours. Since SNAP took over in 2007, Magat has tacked on 1,524,039 man-hours LTI-free as of Dec. 31, 2011.
The Ambuklao and Binga plants received the same award for its 2010 record of 372,305 and 503,095.50 LTI-free man-hours, respectively.
Ambuklao has notched 1,385,531 safe man-hours as of Dec. 31, 2011 while Binga posted 1,539,920 man-hours LTI-free in the same period for a combined total of 2,925,451 man-hours LTI-free.
Labor Undersecretary Lourdes Trasmonte presented the awards joined by BWC Director Brenda Villafuerte, and Region II Director Grace Ursua. SNAP was represented by Nomer Reynaldo, assistant vice president for Safety, Health, Environment, Security and Quality.
Individual awardees were Nomer Reynaldo; Cesar Vicente, Jessie Palma, and Clifford Dailay Sr. SHES specialists for Magat, Binga, and Ambuklao, respectively; and Efren Legaspi, Binga health, safety and environment inspector.
“These awards speak for SNAP’s commitment to the highest standards of workplace safety,” said SNAP president and chief executive Emmanuel Rubio.
The 360-MW Magat plant located at the boundaries of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao and Ramon, Isabela is owned and operated by SNAP-Magat while the 105-MW Ambuklao plant in Bokod and 100-MW Binga plant in Itogon, both in Benguet, are owned and operated by SNAP-Benguet.
