THE power distributor in the region has assured a steady power supply for the first International River Summit next week in this city.
Engineer Randy Pastolero, vice president of Panay Electric Company (Peco) assured of steady and standby power in case of power interruptions caused by force majeure or by kite flyers that affect the main transmission lines of power supply.
Pastolero said Peco has organized eight track teams composed of engineers and members of the city police force to inspect and check the two power generation plants, switchyards, substations and transmission facilities to assure the steady power supply.
Iloilo City is hosting the first Philippine International River Summit here to be participated by some 200 international and national scientists, advocates and environmentalists and some 800 participants from Metro Manila, Western Visayas and 122 city mayors in the country.
The Peco official said the engineers are now conducting load testing and in checking power generators in hotels where the delegates will be billeted.
Engineers will also check the generator set of the EON Centennial Resort in Jaro district where the plenary technical sessions will be held.
Pastolero said track teams will be fielded on May 26 to 27 for preventive maintenance in portions of Jaro, La Paz and Mandurriao districts.(Lydia C. Pendon) source
