MANILA – The remains of the last victim of the Semirara mine collapse in Antique have been retrieved.
Nine workers died when a portion of the mine collapsed last Friday.
Their families will each receive an initial P100,000 pesos in livelihood assistance from government.
The money is on top of the P1 million that will be given to each of the families by Semirara Mining and Power Corp.
The company assured everyone concerned that it is cooperating with authorities investigating the incident.
It is also facilitating the life and accident insurance claims of the victims. It promised to shoulder the school expenses of their children.
Initial investigation of the Antique police revealed the mine collapse hit five dump trucks, a bulldozer and an excavator. source
