THE National Grid Corp. of the
Philippines (NGCP) is targeting to complete the permanent restoration of a
damaged facility in Muntinlupa City any time soon.
Tower No. 34 of the Biñan-Muntinlupa
230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line was damaged by a fire last month.
The tower, temporarily located at
the rightmost lane of the Alabang exit, will be transferred to its permanent
location, the original area of the tower before the incident.
The construction and erection of the
new tower base is ongoing, and the company expects the tower to be lifted and
attached by May 21, 10 days ahead of its original schedule of May 31.
The restoration is scheduled for
completion at the end of the month, but NGCP is endeavoring to complete the
necessary work this weekend.
The NGCP also redirected the power
of lines 1 and 2 of the Biñan-Muntinlupa 230-kV line to ensure the
uninterrupted supply of power to the area. The Alabang Northbound exit of the
South Luzon Expressway was closed off to traffic from 6 a.m. on May
20 until 10 p.m. on May 21.
