Aboitiz Power Corp. will assess the
diesel power plants of the 153.1-megawatt Naga power plant complex in Cebu to
determine the firm’s rehabilitation options.
“We have no idea how the plant has
been operated in the past years. Initially, we bought it for the plant that was
there, the coal plant, (it’s) not there anymore, not operating,” Aboitiz Power
chief operating officer Emmanuel Rubio said.
“But I think there are five diesel
units, so we’re shutting down those diesel plants to assess their condition,”
he said.

Management Corp. turned over the Naga power plant complex in Cebu to Aboitiz
Power unit Therma Power Visayas Inc. on July 16.
The Naga complex consists of the
52.5-megawatt Cebu 1 and 56.8-MW Cebu 2 coal-fired thermal power plants, and
the 43.8-MW Cebu diesel power plant 1 composed of six 7.3-MW bunker-C fed power
units.
Rubio said the review would take
around one and a half months... another three months each to rehabilitate the
diesel units.
