One of the business segments that the Garcia-led Vivant Energy Corporation will be stepping up on this year would be the ‘power retail segment’ of the restructured electricity sector.

According to Emil Andre M. Garcia, chief operating officer of Vivant Energy, the company will do market introduction of its “all-inclusive services” that will be dangled to consumers via subsidiary Corenergy Inc.

Corenergy is the licensed retail electricity supplier (RES) unit of Vivant Energy, or the business arm that caters to the contestable customers or the end-users that can already exercise ‘power of choice’ and directly contract their electricity needs from suppliers.

“We have our own RES — Corenergy, it is our retail brand that we’ll be launching later this year. It’s an all-in-one energy solutions provider from B2C (business to customer) clients – for me, they are the end-users,” Garcia explained.

The suite of solutions that will be offered to targeted clients, he said, will be to cater to their energy needs, option for solar rooftop solution as well as engineering solutions or energy business solutions that stretches beyond the meter.

“Everything behind the meter solutions, we’ll be providing that as well,” Garcia stressed, noting that the end-goal will be to let their customers “focus on their core business and then we handle their energy needs.”

Solar rooftop solution is one sphere that the company has been widening its business grips on – and it is also part of the package that they will be offering to clients in the power retail market space.

Garcia said the company has roughly 8.0 megawatts of rooftop solar solutions on its portfolio, the biggest of its clients with 1.2MW installation is a manufacturing firm in Cebu.

“We feel that distributed generation is really the next big thing. We focus on commercial and industrial clients,” Garcia said.

The RES unit of the company was registered with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in October 2012, and its license is still active until this time, hence, it will be leveraging on that for the targeted market launch of Corenergy this year.

Corenergy indicated that it is procuring supply “from a diverse mix of sources,” as it primarily takes into consideration the reliability of service as well as the cost impact on a particular customer.
