Universal Power Solutions Inc. is seeking the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission to develop dedicated point-to-point limited transmission facilities to connect the 40-megawatt Bataan integrated renewable power facility hub-battery energy storage system to the Luzon grid.
“In order to provide ancillary services as a regulating reserve and contingency reserve to the Luzon grid in 2021, there is a need for UPSI to commence operations in 2021…The construction of the dedicated facility project is a pre-requisite for the testing and commissioning, and ultimately, the commercial operations of the Bataan R-HUB BESS,” UPSI said in its application.
UPSI will connect its point-to-point dedicated transmission facility via the Bataan 69 KV Substation of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
“A provisional authority is thus urgently needed to enable UPSI to achieve the target commercial operations date of the Bataan R-HUB BESS by July 2021 and provide ancillary services to the grid,” the company said.
