Energy commission tackles revised DU charges

THE Energy Regulatory Commission is deliberating on the proposed revised charges of distribution utilities (DUs) that would be imposed to electric consumers.
These include charges for new service connection at P500 for residential or those considered as ‘low voltage customers’ and P1,500 for businesses or the ‘high voltage customers’; a disconnection fee of P350 for both power users; a reconnection fee of P350 for residential and P1,000 for high voltage customers; and transfer/relocation fee of meters at P350 for residential and P1,000 for businesses.
The transfer/relocation fee for transformer and pole is at 1,500, either for residential or business establishments.
“All other charges not included in the revised schedule shall be correspondingly approved by the DU’s respective board of directors for submission to the Commission,” the ERC said in Tuesday’s notice of deliberation.
Interested parties should submit their comments on the proposed amended charges, both in hard and soft copies, on or before August 8, 2011. (CGC)
