Explosion hits NGCP tower in Maguindanao

MANILA, Philippines - An explosion occurred at a tower of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in Pagalungan, Maguindanao last Thursday night, the military said.
Col. Prudencio Asto, spokesman of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said the blast happened at the NGCP tower No. 20, about 30 meters from the national highway in Barangay Layog, Pagalungan town.
Asto said investigation showed that two improvised explosives exploded at the tower.
Authorities also recovered in the area another improvised bomb that did not explode, he said.
Asto said the explosion may not be the handiwork of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement, a breakaway group of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
He said a criminal group that extorts money by damaging vital infrastructure may be behind it.    source
