The Aboitiz group is in talks with two large Chinese companies—Shandong Electric Power Construction Corp. III (Sepco3) and Dongfang Electric Company (DEC)—for prospective partnerships in big-ticket power and other infrastructure projects.

The group’s privately held construction arm Aboitiz Construction Inc. (ACI) recently visited China to explore possible tie-ups here or abroad, a press statement on Monday said.

ACI chair Jaime Jose Aboitiz, who led the mission to China, was accompanied by ACI president and chief operating officer Alberto Ignacio Jr. and ACI first vice president for business development, marketing, sales and estimating Felma Yap.

The visit aimed to secure interest for power projects and other infrastructure projects in the Philippines under the “Build, Build, Build” program of the government.

“At home or abroad, ACI will continue to pursue opportunities that will allow us to advance business and communities through our various projects, as well as put us on track to being the contractor of choice by completing projects on time, on budget, safe, and within specifications,” Aboitiz said.

Sepco3 is a Chinese construction and engineering company that designs, builds, operates and owns power plants. DEC is one of the most influential enterprise groups under the direct administration of the Chinese central government, specializing in the manufacturing industry, research and development of cutting-edge technology, contracting international engineering projects, et al.
