CLARK FREEPORT—A campaign to “empower and educate consumers on their options to make wiser and more intelligent utilization of their required energy resources” was held here last Wednesday.

The campaign was the fourth “E-Power Mo” Smart Energy Utilization Forum and Stakeholders Conference of the Department of Energy (DOE).

Redentor Delola, energy assistant secretary, said “E-Power Mo’ seeks to explain the various DOE programs and projects to Filipino energy consumers.”

He said E-Power Mo is the “overarching term that encapsulates our goal to be globally competitive and create wealth for all through the development of indigenous energy resources, thereby supporting our economic development.”

To further instill energy-efficient and safety practices, the DOE came up with “E-Safety Mo.”

“We believe that safety awareness will prevent accidents, while efficiency will result in more savings,” he said.

Delola added the DOE needs to secure the planning, development and operations aspects in the energy sector in close coordination with the consumers, hence, the creation of E-Secure Mo, which sends a strong message—that of ensuring quality, reliability, resiliency and the affordable supply of energy services.

“To enhance the consumers power of choice, which ranges from conventional sources
to renewables and other emerging technologies and systems, we have ‘E-Diskarte Mo,’” he said.

“Spreading awareness of the E-Power Mo message is one of the many ways to realize our common goals. Doable, too, in raising awareness is digitizing our message, especially to reach our youth who are currently the largest chunk of our growing population,” Delola added. “We urge you to help us share the E-Power Mo message in your own little ways. From our collective steps, we can offer a sizeable contribution toward the higher cause of E-Power Mo,” he said.

Aside from the plenary, the campaign had six breakout sessions focusing on Downstream Oil and Natural Gas Sector, Upstream Sector, Renewable-Energy Sector, Power Sector, Alternative Fuels and Energy Efficiency Sector and Consumer Sector.

Similar activities were also held in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.
