SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) received the Safety Milestone Recognition (Smile) awards from the Department of Labor and Employment’s Bureau of Working Conditions (DOLE-BWC) for achieving record man-hours without a lost-time incident (LTI).
In December 2011, the Magat Plant received an award from the DOLE for its 2010 record of no lost time incident of 303,680 man-hours. Since SNAP took over in 2007, Magat has accumulated 1.524 million man-hours LTI-free as of December 31, 2011.
The Ambuklao and Binga Plants received the same award for its 2010 record of 372,305 and 503,095.50 LTI-free man-hours, respectively. Ambuklao has achieved 1.385 million safe man-hours as of December 31, 2011, while Binga posted 1.539 million man-hours LTI-free in the same period for a combined total of 2.925 million man-hours LTI-free.
The awards were handed out by DOLE Undersecretary Lourdes Trasmonte, DOLE-BWC Director Brenda Villafuerte, and DOLE Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) Director Grace Ursua. SNAP was represented by Assistant Vice President for Safety, Health, Environment, Security and Quality Nomer Reynaldo.
“These awards speak to SNAP’s commitment to the highest standards of workplace safety,” SNAP President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Rubio said in a statement.
“But more importantly, this reflects the dedication of our teams in Magat, Ambuklao, and Binga, who work to ensure the safety of each and every employee and contractor in our plants,” he added.
SNAP is a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower.
