Talacogon, Agusan del Sur – The Agusan del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Aselco) said an estimated 60,000 residents of the river towns in Agusan del Sur will soon enjoy the convenience of electricity with the completion of the 35-kilometer 69 kilovolt ampere (KVA) transmission line, and the five-megavolt ampere (MVA) substation transmission in this town.
The local residents, together with the municipal and village officials, are already eager to witness the blessing, commissioning, and energization of the multi-million-peso power line projects.
The local officials said that this new development is “very welcome,” and “this will spur our economic activity.”
“This is the cooperative’s response to the consolidated suggestions and recommendations coming from the member-consumers and stakeholders themselves, requesting the cooperative to construct a separate substation transformer for the area (Talacogon) to address the growing demand for power supply due to the growing economic activity and entry of investors,” said Aselco General Manager Emmanuel B. Galarse.
Consumers residing in the river towns of Loreto, La Paz, Talacogon, and San Luis depend so much on the supply of electricity that runs through the grid, which was sourced from the 10 MVA substation transformer in San Isidro, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
At present, there are 13,559 billed member-consumers in the Talacogon area office alone.
“This is the second electric cooperative operated and maintained transmission line facility commissioned and energized within a period of five years. The other one is the existing 69 KV transmission line from San Isidro to Banahaw, Bayugan 3, Rosario, Agusan del Sur,” said coop president Joel Q. Jumonong.
“Energizing all remote areas in the province is our utmost priority for this year because we are aiming to spur the economic development in at least 70 upland and far-flung communities,” said Agusan del Sur Governor Adolph Edward G. Plaza, who expressed gratitude to the Aselco management for helping the province in its economic development program. source
