BACOLOD CITY -- The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) asked the Regional Trial Court here Friday to reconsider its decision that junked a petition to stop the Murcia municipal government from collecting real property taxes.

“We are not against taxation because it is the responsibility of every individual or entity. What we are against is the kind of tax they are trying to collect from us,” Mr. Lagarde said.

He said that under the Local Government Code, utility firms should not be taxed, and electrical poles are not real properties since they are movable.

The Murcia municipal government is trying to collect P16.18 million in property taxes from the utility.  source
