THE National Transmission Corp.
(Transco) said its motion for consideration filed with the Energy Regulatory
Commission (ERC) in connection with the Visayas-Mindanao Interconnection
Project (VMIP) remains pending.
“We haven’t withdrawn the case.
There’s no one telling us to withdraw, but it should have been acted upon by
the ERC,” said Transco President Melvin Matibag.
Transco, owner of the country’s
transmission assets, believes it would be best if it undertakes the VMIP so
that expenses to be incurred from the project would not be passed on to
consumers.
The ERC, however, issued a
provisional authority to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) to
undertake the P52-bllion grid interconnection project.
The NGCP won the concession to
operate and maintain the system.
