General Mills renews RE contract with EDC

By Lenie Lectura - January 7, 2019

GENERAL Milling Corp. (GMC), a leading integrated food-manufacturing company, has renewed its supply contract clean, reliable and renewable energy (RE) from Lopez-led Energy Development Corp. (EDC).
“We chose to renew with EDC because, aside from the pure renewable energy they provide, we are very satisfied with their service.  It is just like a renewal of vows for us,” GMC EVP Joselito Parco said. Cebu-based GMC has been providing quality flour and bakery products for more than 50 years. Its facility is located in Lapu-Lapu City.
From its first milling facility established in the mid-1970s, GMC has expanded to animal feeds, corn mill, and the manufacture and sales of consumer goods like snack food, pasta, instant noodles, edible oil and coffee.  The Lapu-Lapu factory is GMC’s biggest facility.
EDC’s parent firm is First Gen Corp., the country’s leading clean and RE producer with 3,490 megawatts in installed capacity. Subsidiary EDC is one of the world’s largest geothermal producers and the country’s leading RE company with an installed capacity of 1,471.8 MW. For over 40 years, EDC has been implementing comprehensive environmental management programs that enhance the ecosystem and corporate social responsibility programs that ensure inclusive growth for its partner communities.
