The Department of Energy’s (DoE) Safety and Health Association of the Philippine Energy Sector (Shapes) has recognized the SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) Group for its outstanding safety and health practices, and occupational health management in the face of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Emmanuel Lopez, SNAP Group chief technology officer, said SNAP’s renewable energy companies SN Aboitiz Power-Magat (SNAP-Magat) and SNAP-Benguet were honored during a virtual ceremony on December 2, the second day of the Shapes-hosted 16th Energy Safety and Health Conference.
In the group category, SNAP-Benguet’s Ambuklao and Binga plants bagged the Titanium Award of the 2020 Corporate Safety and Health Excellence Award, while the Magat Hydroelectric Power Plant received the Gold Award.
Shapes said that for establishments to qualify, they must have zero lost time accident and no infractions that breach the renewable energy safety, health and environment rules and regulations set by the DoE and the occupational safety and health standards set by Department of Labor and Employment.
Lopez said special awards were also given to their Magat, Ambuklao and Binga plants for implementing prompt and innovative occupational health and safety protocols in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also said some of their SNAP safety practitioners were also recognized. They were Clifford Dailay (Titanium Award), Hollis Fernandez (Titanium), Jessie Palma (Titanium), Rachelle Anne Severo (Gold), Eliseo Rey Ingles (Gold), Cheryl Ragsac (Gold), Jillan Jacinto (Silver), Jimmy Bacena (Bronze), Barry Frank Yabut (Basic) and Jose Lachica 3rd (Basic).
Shapes said SNAP-Benguet and SNAP-Magat have been consistently recognized for six years and were even inducted in the Hall of Fame of Corporate Safety and Health Excellence last year.
It added SNAP-Benguet and SNAP-Magat continued to implement, promote and develop global-standard health and safety practices in their operations.
The SNAP Group is a joint venture of SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower.
