Garcia-led Vivant Energy Corporation has cornered as 15-year power supply agreement that had been awarded to it by Pampanga II Electric Cooperative (PELCO II) as underpinned by a recently concluded tendering process.
The Pampanga utility firm’s power supply requirement within the contract duration was auctioned through a competitive selection process (CSP) that is sanctioned by government policies and industry regulations.
In securing that supply deal, the consortium of Vivant Energy and Gigawatt Power Inc., will have to build a diesel-fired power facility of three units that will have 5.76-megawatt capacity each or for an aggregate capacity of 17.28MW.
The power plant project is to be developed under a Build-Operate-Own (BOO) arrangement and it has to be sited in Porac, Pampanga.
As emphasized by Vivant Energy Executive Vice President and COO Emil Andre M. Garcia, the power supply deal and the installation of the electricity generating facility are amalgamation of efforts of seven local government units served by PELCO II.
“Wherever we go, we’ve always been committed to the economic and social development of the communities we serve, and we will make the same commitment here,” he stressed.
The company said the embedded power plant will have a dependable capacity of 15MW; and this shall mainly serve the peaking power supply needs of the service area of the Pampanga electric cooperative.
“The future facility will provide stable, reliable and quality power to PELCO’s coverage area even during peak hours,” the Garcia-led firm noted.
Gigawatt Power President Walden Tantuico similarly asserted that their company’s tandem with Vivant Energy has “always been known for the service, commitment and reliability that our power plants provide in the distribution systems of electric cooperatives.”
He added their consortium can only assure the Pampanga power utility and its customers that they can expect the same level of quality service that the Vivant-Gigawatt Power tandem had already done in other areas, such as in Palawan an Cebu.
