Energy Development Corp chosen as regional Kabalikat winner

ORMOC CITY—The Energy Development Corp. (EDC) won the 2010 National Kabalikat Award industry category for Eastern Visayas. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) conferred the award at the Tesda complex in Taguig City.
EDC was awarded for the establishment of Kananga-EDC Institute of Technology (KeiTech), a postsecondary technical vocational training center which started operating on June 2009. Now on its second year, KeiTech has produced 117 students who underwent 10 months’ training.
The Kabalikat Award is one of Tesda’s reward mechanisms to recognize and honor outstanding partners that promote technical-vocational education and training.
The award is conferred to local governments, institutions and private companies that contribute to manpower development in the form of training, scholarships, donation of training machine and equipment, supplies and materials, recruitment and placement of trainees, on-the-job training, socially conscious industry practices, and other support services.
