The National Power Corp. (Napocor) on Monday said it has approved the award of the P206-million contract for the installation and supply of materials for the 76-kilometer 69-kilovolt transmission-line project.
The first 34 km was awarded to DM Consunji Inc., while the remaining 42 km to Power Dimension Inc.
The project, connecting the municipalities of Mobo and Cataingan in Masbate, is part of the Department of Energy’s 2012 to 2016 Missionary Electrification Development Plan.
Napocor President Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita said the project will result in a significant reduction in system loss. “Aside from minimized system loss, the transmission line will also improve power dispatch, enhance system protection and attain power stability and reliability in the Masbate grid,” she said.
Should there be an increase in power demand, the transmission line will easily accommodate future power generators.
Also, the Napocor reported that the 10.83-km Mobo-Aroroy Line 3 is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is already 62-percent completed. The state firm has allotted P41 million for this.
The Mobo- Aroroy Line 1, which is about 17.56 km, and Line 2, which is 15.03 km, will also be rehabilitated at a cost of P84 million.
Napocor also manages the transmission system of the provinces of Palawan, Marinduque, Catanduanes, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro. source
