THE impact of climate
change through possible regulations to reduce carbon emissions, geopolitical
and global economic shifts, recent technological breakthroughs and advancements
in science and information technology, will be shared by international experts
during the 11th Powertrends Business Forum and Expo from September 21
to 23.
These critical
developments will provide the framework for assessments by consumers and
investors of risks and opportunities in projects for power and energy.
Powertrends is expected
to be the venue for the new administration to present the direction of
government policies for the power and energy sectors. It will also serve
to be the forum to discuss how to untie the knots affecting the fundamentals
for development of the sector.
The event, to be hosted
by the Department of Energy, aims to unravel the country’s complex power
problems and find solutions to ultimately benefit consumers and industry with
reduced electricity cost.
Powertrends,
now an annual from being a biennial event, will be held at the SMX Convention
Center at the Mall of Asia complex. Powertrends was first organized in
1995 by Leverage International in collaboration with the Department of Energy
and the National Power Corp. at the height of the then-existing energy crisis.
