The Chamber of Mines of the Philippines
said most members have secured the International Standards Organization 14001-
Environmental Management Systems certification.
The group made the statement after
Environment Secretary Regina Lopez said all mining companies would be required
to secure the ISO certification.
CoMP said of its 21 members, 13
mining companies had already secured the ISO 14001 certification. These firms
include Benguet Corp., Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co., Ocenagold Philippines
Inc., Benguet Corp. Nickel Mines Inc., Eramen Minerals Inc., Rio Tuba Nickel
Mines Corp., Filminera Resources Corp. and Carmen Copper Corp.
Other mining companies which were
able to secure the certification were Greenstone Resources Corp., Hinatuan
Mining Corp., MarcVentures Mining & Development Corp. and Taganito Mining
Corp.
COMP said the remaining eight
members were in the process of securing the ISO certification.
These companies include LNL
Archipelago Minerals Inc., Berong Nicjel Corp., Apex Mining Co. Inc., TVI
Resources Devevelopment Inc., Minimax Mineral Exploration Corp., CTP
Contruction & Mining Corp., Pacific Nickel Phils. Inc., Platinum Group
Metals Corp. and Philsaga Minig Corp.
