Tacloban City — The
National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has turned over four
school buildings to Leyte schools, over the weekend.
Leyte Governor Leopoldo
Dominico Petilla told reporters in an interview that each school building has
three classrooms. They are intended for distribution to four public schools in
the province as part of the recovery efforts for the areas devastated by the
super typhoon ‘Yolanda’ last November 8, 2013.
Governor Petilla said
the elementary schools which are recipients of the school buildings
include: Cogon Elementary School and San Jose Elementary School
both of Palo town; Lingayon Elementary School of Alang-alang town and San Roque
Elementary School of Tolosa town.
A source from NGCP said
in a separate interview that each school building costs P2.8
million. He added that the four school buildings are part of the 21
school buildings pledged by NGCP to be donated to Leyte.
The other 17 school
buildings, also with three classrooms each, had been turned over in 2014, 2015
and earlier this year.
