Butuan City – The Association of Mindanao Electric Cooperatives (AMRECO) has extended humanitarian assistance to the Marawi evacuees.
In behalf of all the electric cooperatives in Mindanao, AMRECO president Sergio C. Dagooc, who is also the general manager of Siargao and Dinagat Islands electric cooperatives, handed a check for P200, 000 to Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) acting general manager Nordjana Dipatuan-Ducola, for the benefit of evacuees, who fled the Marawi conflict.
Along with top officials of National Electrification Administration (NEA), led by Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong, officials of AMRECO also donated to Marawi evacuees goods and undetermined amount of cash from employees and stakeholders of different electric cooperatives.
“Our colleagues, employees, and workers of Lasureco who were also badly affected by the Marawi crisis also need our support,” Dagooc yesterday said.
He said the energy companies like National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), GN Power and electric cooperatives and their employees throughout the country contributed to help in the endeavor.
AMRECO has already donated 50 sacks of rice to affected families belonging to Lasureco; the National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives, 412 plastic boxes containing assorted foods, rice, can goods, medical supplies including hygiene kits; and the National Electric Cooperative Owners, a total of P500,000.
