The National Association of Electricity Consumers for Reforms Inc. is asking the Energy Department to investigate the alleged collection of “unreasonable fees” by the administrator of the National Electrification Administration.
NASECORE, in a letter to Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, said NEA administrator Edgardo Masongson allegedly used the powers of his office to collect unreasonable fees from electric cooperatives for a series of conventions in Manila on August 5 to10, in connection with NEA’s 50th Anniversary and the Strategic Meeting on Rural Electrification.
“It is our position that NEA Administrator Masongsong has no authority to organize these events, much less require the payment of registration fees which, by our conservative estimate, amounted to a total of P42 Million... ,” NASECORE executive director Rafael Acebedo said.
