Dr. Jean Lindo, during the "Duke of HAzzards" symposium at the Philippine Medical Association Convention at the Grand Regal Hotel Thursday, said coal processing from mining, preparation of the coal-fired power plant to the combustion, disposal and post combustion in waste will severely affect the environment and everybody's health.

"Itatransport yan of course from the sea to land, gusto talaga nilang malison lahat ng madaanan nila," Lindo said.
She also noted that the corporation involved in the proposed coal-fired power plant the plan to mine coal in Manay and Taragona, Davao Oriental.
Lindo showed pictures of diseases that can be a result of pollution brought by coal like the "black lung" disease and other respiratory and neurological disorders.
"It will also mostly affect our waters here, and we do have the second best drinking water in the country, what will happen by the next years?," she added.
