(The Philippine Star)

LEYTE , Philippines   – The Energy and Labor departments have suspended all types of construction work being done at PAD 403 at the Energy Development Corp.’s geothermal complex in Upper Mahiao, Kananga town after a landslide in the area killed 14 workers.
The Labor department’s regional office issued the work stoppage as it is investigating operational safety at the geothermal facility.
For its part, the Energy department suspended all geothermal operations in the landslide-hit area pursuant to the Renewable Energy Safety, Health and Environment Rules and Regulations.
The order, signed by DOE’s Renewable Energy Management Bureau director Mario Marasigan, also required the EDC to submit a written report on the results of its investigation into the accident, without prejudice to the department’s own investigation.   source
