National Grid Corporation of the Philippines asked the Energy Regulatory Commission to approve its ancillary service procurement agreement with San Roque Power Corp., which operates a 345-megawatt power plant in Pangasinan.
National Grid asked ERC to approve its agreement with San Roque Power and “allow applicants to recover all related and incidental expenses incurred or may incur in relation with the procurement and operation of ancillary services.”
Ancillary services are those that support the transmission of capacity and energy from resources to loads while maintaining reliable operation of the transmission system.
San Roque Power is the owner of the San Roque hydroelectric plant in Pangasinan.
The Philippine Grid Code provides that National Grid should be responsible for determining, acquiring the dispatching the needed capacity to supply the required grid ancillary services.
The company, upon conducting several tests on the hydro plant, found that San Roque Power was capable of providing the needed 160 megawatts for regulating contingency reserves. source
