The World Future Energy Summit will be held on January 15-17, 2013, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The summit is hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s multifaceted renewable energy company, and is expected to attract world leaders, international policy makers, industry leaders, investors, academia, intellectuals, and journalists to discuss practical and future energy challenges. The event represents an opportunity for nations to come together to share solutions, reach agreements, and continue to make progress towards better sources of alternative and renewable energy.
It is expected that eventually, the world’s sources of oil and coal will be depleted, at which point we will need to develop an infrastructure of alternative energy production capable of supporting our world. As oil becomes more expensive, renewable energy sources become more attractive. Alternative and renewable energy are terms that refer to any natural source that is naturally replenished, and to any source other than fossil fuels.
Modern renewable energy technology can be traced back to the second half of the 20th century. In the history of renewable energy, most events concern wind power technologies. Although renewable and alternative energy requires very high capital investments, the more renewable energy is produced, the lower the cost per unit. The only costs associated with renewable energy production are maintenance, labor, and regulatory fees.
The summit is the centerpiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and is endorsed by the United Nations under the leadership of the Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. It has in the past six years become a unique platform to launch initiatives, announce investment, make policy statements, and deliver media messages designed to raise awareness and increase the business in renewable energy.
We congratulate the Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, under the patronage of His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, and all nations engaged in promoting alternative and renewable energy and making energy sources rational and beneficial to all on the occasion of the World Future Energy Summit. CONGRATULATIONS AND MABUHAY! source
