Balanga City — Engr. Loreto Marcelino, general manager of Peninsula Electric Cooperative said the efficient operation of the GN Power plant in Mariveles has helped decrease the power rate in Bataan.
“For June billing residential rate is 9.1916 pesos per kilowatt hour, down by 1.69 pesos per KWHR compared to last month (May),” he said. “It will further reduce for July billing by 35 centavos per KWHR.”
Bataan Governor and Congressman-elect for the Second District Enrique Garcia, Jr. said GN Power plant which uses “clean” coal technology will serve as model in helping meet the country’s energy demand which the Department of Energy said is projected to increase from 8,000 MW in 2012 to 10,700 in 2020, and 16,500 in 2030.
Bataan 2nd district Congressman and Governor-elect Albert Garcia lauded GN Power for providing cheaper electricity for the benefit of community folk and local business.
Recently, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines completed the Mariveles Coal Transmission Reinforcement Project, adding 600 megawatts capacity to the Luzon power grid. source
