Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC), a joint venture of Palm Thermal Consolidated Holdings Corporation (A. Brown Company Inc.) and Jin Navitas Resource, Inc., will give the order to start construction of a 135-MW power plant in Negros this Friday, June 7.
Company officials have already met with officers of various electric cooperatives (ECs) located in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental to update them on the coal-fired power plant project.
“We are very pleased that our customers here in Negros were all out to support this project especially now that the construction will be starting in the coming weeks.  PCPC will be issuing the Notice to Proceed to the general EPC Contractor on June 7, this year” PCPC President Roel Z. Castro said.
The EPC contractor for the project is NLSC-the consortium of First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Corporation of China, Liaoning Electric Power Survey & Design Institute and Shenyang Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The supplier for the steam turbine and generator (European technology) for the project is Alstom Power.
The target completion date of the project is by early 2016 which will be in time for the additional power supply requirements of the Visayas region.
“We’d like to assure our customers that we will deliver this project as committed because we understand the power situation and the power capacities needed by the time the Concepcion plant is operational, in order support the economic activities in Panay, Negros and the whole of Visayas,” PCPC Chairman Dr. Walter W. Brown said.
The Concepcion project is to construct a 2x135-MW power generation plant starting with 1 unit of 135MW utilizing coal as primary fuel and using Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) technology.  source
