Powertrends 2019 opens today, focuses on energy infrastructure

 (The Philippine Star) - September 3, 2019 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines — Powertrends 2019, the longest running energy exhibition in the Philippines, opens today at the SMX Convention Center, MOA Complex in Pasay City.
Organized since 1995 by Leverage International in cooperation with the Department of Energy, this two-day event themed “The Trends Shaping Around Renewable Energy” features an international exhibition, a business conference, networking cocktail and technical workshops.
The Philippine energy sector is poised for transformation. There is a fast growing electricity demand resulting from the Build Build Build program of the President. Along with the other 10 member countries of ASEAN, the Philippines is on track to make solar and other renewables account for 23 percent of the region’s total primary energy supply by 2025.
The Philippine government is working to improve policies and investment framework for clean energy. In line with these developments, Powertrends provides the platform for bringing together the players in these fields in one big gathering- where energy professionals and practitioners together with policy and law makers will assemble to exchange knowledge and build business relationships.
Powertrends exhibition will showcase the newest technologies, systems and projects by key energy players such as Shell, SMC Global Power, AboitizPower, Edward Marcs, Solvera Lynx, Meanwell Enterprise, to name a few.
Since 1995, Powertrends has become a part of the history of the energy sector.  From acute blackouts up to the entry of the build-operate-transfer (BOT) program of power plant developments – and onward to the passage and enforcement of the EPIRA law that ushered in the privatization of the country’s power assets, Powertrends had been there providing a venue for discussion of much- needed policy and regulatory frameworks for the industry.
With the rise of the renewable energy sector, digitalization and the forthcoming reset of the Philippine gas sector through liquefied natural gas (LNG) investments, Powertrends continues to be the “bridge for information and exchange of views” on technology developments and future trends for the energy sector.
Powertrends will introduce the 1st Philippine Floating Solar Forum 2019 organized by the Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance. The event, to be co-located with Powertrends will gather technology experts, project developers and practitioners, regulatory agencies, development agencies, local and foreign investors to impart knowledge, experiences and best practices on the floating solar technology and to discuss among experts the critical formulation and changes needed on the regulatory policies.
