THE Department of Energy (DOE) and the Central Visayas (Region 7) Regional Development Council (RDC) are slated to conduct a summit with power stakeholders in the Visayas this weekend in Cebu City.
With the theme “Collective action toward competitive power in the Visayas,” the summit seeks to plan out solutions and strategies among the stakeholders to address power-related issues in the Visayas and assure investors and other power players of a sustainable supply of electricity in the region.
The event, which is also co-organized by the respective RDCs of Western (Region 6) and Eastern (Region 8) Visayas, will include participants from the DOE attached agencies and the public and private sectors in the power industry.
Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla will give a presentation on the power supply and demand outlook in the Visayas and on the DOE’s online information site on electricity, www.kuryente.org.ph.
The summit will also feature a presentation of power-related issues in selected regions, followed by a workshop and agreement signing with all the participants.   source
