NGCP fasttracks Surigao tower repair

 (The Philippine Star)

MANILA, Philippines - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the country’s power transmission highway operator, has fasttracked the repair of a damaged 69- kilovolt (kV) tower in Surigao City to resolve the power interruption in the city.
Surigao experienced a 16-hour power outage last April 1 due to a bent tower along the Anislagan-Pacemco-Surigao City 69-kV line.
NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Alabanza said the company deployed additional workers to repair the existing lines in Surigao City as it ensured shorter and faster repair time.
“NGCP is always willing to reallocate resources, whether it is funds or manpower, for better delivery of its services,” she said.
At the same time, Alabanza reminded the public to be constantly aware of transmission line safety by not breaching right-of-way (ROW) clearances.
“This is a concrete example of the bad implications of breaching our ROW clearances,” she said.

She said accidents have happened because trespassers breach ROW clearances of NGCP.
“Again, we request the public to avoid breaching the safety clearances of our transmission lines to avoid incidents like this,” Alabanza said.
NGCP has been embarking on various repairs and maintenance works to ensure the reliability of the country’s power transmission network.
It has also been working with local government units to address ROW issues in some provinces and far-flung areas. Furthermore, NGCP has also been constructing new transmission infrastructure to improve the network.
NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power transmission network. It continues work with power customers, local government units, and other agencies, in its commitment to support the nation’s social and economic development.   source
