BUTUAN CITY -- Some 7,000 households in 36 sitios of the remote barangays in Agusan del Norte, including this city and Cabadbaran, are expected to have electricity connection with funding support from Aboitiz Power.
During the 16th Provincial Council regular session, the council approved the Provincial Resolution No. 011-2013 which was endorsed to Department of Energy (DOE) through the Aboitiz power to fund the electricity connection to the remote areas of the province amounting to P24,352,325.15.
Provincial Board Member Rey Jamboy, who authored the resolution, said that the Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative (Aneco) under its Sitio Electrification Project has already identified sitios and barangays under seven local government units of the province which will benefit from the electrification project.
Jamboy added that the province aims the total development of the barangays through electrification project and providing basic facilities, while believing that its full implementation to the communities will provide the opportunity toward socio-economic development.
Establishing electricity to the remote areas in the province is one of the priority projects of the provincial government under its economic development strategy based on the Provincial Development Investment Plan. (PR)   source
