CEBU CITY—Palm Concepcion Power Corp. is on track with the first phase of a 270-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Concepcion, Iloilo, which will help address the rising power demand in the Visayas, a company executive said Thursday.

“Power demand is really growing especially in Panay, Cebu and Negros, and given the infra projects lined up, additional power supply is a necessity in these areas to realize the economic growth and be able to sustain them in the long term,” Palm Concepcion president and chief executive Roel Castro said during the recently concluded Energy Investment Forum held in this city.
Palm Concepcion is a joint venture between A Brown Co. Inc.’s subsidiary Palm Thermal Consolidated Holdings Corp. and Jin Navitas Resource Inc.
Palm Concepcion will build and operate the initial 135-MW coal project in Concepcion, Iloilo, which is scheduled to be commissioned by 2016, in time for the critical requirement of the Visayas grid.
Castro said the power plant in Nipa village in Concepcion would use the circulating fluidized bed combustion, also known as clean coal technology.
“As investor, PCPC was able to use its strengths to overcome all the challenges that came our way,” he said.   source
