THE Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ormeco) has awarded the contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of a power plant to DMCI Power Corp. of the Consunji Group.
In a disclosure to the stock exchange, DMCI Holdings Inc. said its subsidiary was awarded the Electricity Supply Agreement for the 15-megawatt bunker-fired diesel power plant in Calapan City, Mindoro.
The contract has a term of 20 years. Construction will take at least 18 months. DMCI Power bested seven other bidders. The list was later trimmed to three. The other two prequalified bidders were Santa Clara Power Corp. and Mindoro Grid Corp.
Ormeco serves the power requirements of Oriental Mindoro, which has seen significant economic growth driven by the tourism industry.   source
