The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Saturday issued a “yellow alert” notice to its Luzon grid customers.
In a statement, NGCP warned the public of possible power interruption. It also asked the public to conserve energy.
As of 6 a.m., NGCP said Luzon has an expected capacity of 5,908 megawatts and a projected peak demand of 4,363 megawatts.
“Yellow alert” pertains to a system condition wherein the total of all reserves is less than the capacity of the largest plant online, which for the Luzon grid, is 647 megawatts.
On Friday, NGCP issued a “red alert” which refers to the system condition when the contingency reserve is zero or a generation deficiency exists.
