President Rodrigo Duterte has filled
several vacancies in government including Energy Regulatory Commission
commissioner and the post vacated by actor Cesar Montano at the Tourism
Promotions Board.
Duterte appointed Catherine Maceda
as ERC commissioner on September 11 for a seven-year term that ends in July
2025, according to appointment papers released by MalacaƱang on Monday.
Maceda replaced Alfredo Non who
retired from the position on July 10. She completed the five-man body
headed by former Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera.
The President also named Marie Venus
Tan director to the TPB, replacing Montano who resigned on May 22 amid a
Department of Tourism investigation into the questioned P80-million funding
that the TPB gave Buhay Carinderia, a culinary tourism program.
Tan would serve Montano's unexpired
term that began on July 1, 2018 and will end on June 30, 2019.
Duterte also appointed retired
police general Diosdado Valeroso and Ferdinando Sevilla as executive director
of Department of the Interior and Local Government's Emergency 911 national
office and vice president for administration of Philippine Public Safety
College, respectively.
The other appointees were assigned
to the Departments of Environment and Natural Resources, National Defense,
Finance, Agrarian Reform and Foreign Affairs. —KBK, GMA News
