Sarangani Energy Corp., a unit of Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc., has signed an agreement to supply 10 megawatts to South Cotabato I Electric Cooperative Inc. from its coal-fired power plant project in Mindanao.
Sarangani Energy is building a 210-MW coal-fired power plant in Maasim, Sarangani in phases of 105 MW each.
“Under the agreement, Sarangani Energy will provide Socoteco-1 with 10 megawatts of electrical capacity from the company’s 210-MW coal- fired power plant in Maasim, Sarangani,” Alsons said in a disclosure Wednesday.
It said the 10 MW allotted to Socoteco-1 would come from the second phase of the Sarangani Energy plant, which is expected to be operational by 2016.
“The full 105-MW capacity of the Sarangani Energy’s first phase has already been sold out with the bulk of the output cornered by another South Cotabato distribution utility—South Cotabato 2 Electric Cooperative Inc., which will be getting 70 MW,” it said.
Another 35 MW were sold to Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative, Agusan del Sur Electric Cooperative and Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative. source
