GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Engr. Rodolfo Ocat, general manager of South Cotabato Electric Cooperative II discussed over the weekend how to ensure a more stable power supply in the locality.
Along with City Administrator lawyer Arnel Zapatos, they noted that brief outages were still experienced.
Industry records show that National Power Corp. supplies 43MW out of its 52MW contract this year due to the reduced capacity of its hydroelectric plants in Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte.
Recognizing the need for electricity to sustain the city’s economic gains, Ocat proposed power allocation and utilization, renewable energy sources and strengthening Private-Public Partnership programs.
Rivera agreed, noting that the public and private sector linkage was necessary for SOCOTECO II to cope with increasing power demand by improving its facilities. – Ian John Lagare source
