6-hour power interruption to affect Agusan provinces on Sunday

Updated By Mike Crismundo

BUTUAN CITY – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced on Friday a six-hour power interruption in the region’s capital city of Butuan and the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur on Sunday, October 27.
The power interruption will occur from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m and will affect the franchise areas of the Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative (Aneco) and Agusan del Sur Electric Cooperative (Aselco), the NGCP said.
The interruption will give way to a line commissioning works along Butuan City Substation.
Specific areas to be affected will be determined by the electric cooperatives.
NGCP added that it will exert all its effort to restore power earlier or as scheduled.
With this, Aselco General Manager Engr. Emmanuel B. Galarse advised the public to be ready by the power interruption.
He said the Maintenance and Upgrading activities were necessary in preventing an even larger scale of unintended power interruptions.
“This is also part of the preparations for the coming holiday seasons that everyone is anticipating. The need for a stable power supply is very high in the last two months. So, it is better that as early as now, we heed and comply to the request of NGCP,” Galarse said.
Amidst all the future inconveniences, ASELCO management hope that the general public will understand the matter.
Aneco management also said the power outages will affect eight substations located in Butuan City and the areas of Cabadbaran City and Santiago area, all in Agusan del Norte.
